Our Emergency Shelter serves 9 families and individuals at a time and offers a caring, trauma-informed community and on-site clinical support with 24/7 staffing. The Shelter is a converted home where all residents share a fully ADA accessible common kitchen, 4 common baths, and indoor and outdoor play spaces.

For over 10 years, Transition House has worked with Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) to create and sustain emergency and transitional housing options for survivors of domestic violence through flexible use of CHA’s voucher funds and public housing to provide a wider range of housing options. CHA also funds a liaison staff person at Transition House who not only supports the clients in the program, but also assists CHA staff in responding to domestic violence issues as they arise. Our longer term transitional and supported housing programs are designed for individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence and cannot yet access safe, affordable housing. In both models, residents live in scattered site apartments and access a range of support services as they become increasingly resilient and financially secure.
